Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Membership Agreement

The terms of the Agreement between Member and Chi City Foods, LLC are contained within this agreement. The Member receives a Share of produce for a number of weeks specified by their payment and Membership Form.

CCF CSA

Chi City Foods (CCF) Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) will feature 30 plus varieties of produce throughout the season. Every bimonthly produce box will have a minimum of 10 items. Boxes are a mixture of veggies and sometimes fruits grown by Chi City Foods, LLC and various Midwest farmers. CCF doesn’t use GMO seeds nor harmful chemical pesticides. We use organic practices and are working towards our organic certification. We have 3 membership options bringing affordable hyper local produce directly to 4 neighborhoods on the south side of Chicago and citywide via delivery. Members pay 1 fee for the season then pick up or are delivered their CSA boxes bimonthly. The Big Share feeds 3-4 people and Small Share feeds 1-2 people. The 2019 Season has been updated; it is now from June 29th thru November 9th. Members will receive 10 boxes of produce across 20 weeks.

Community Supported Agriculture

Community Supported Agriculture is a relationship beyond a simple exchange of organic produce for cash. It is based on mutual respect between CSA members and the farm community. It is very important that Members be mindful of the following: A) The Farmer relies on income from the CSA to operate the farm. B) The Farmer plants and tends crops for months before the Member sees them in their shares. Each share represents the work and attention to detail of dozens of people to seed, transplant, weed, grow and harvest your prepaid shares.

Risk

Members share in the inherent risks of agriculture (poor weather, drought, disease, early frost, crop failure and so on) and rewards (the bounty from a good season). Farmer purposefully plans for such contingencies and use growing techniques that protect the harvest, minimize risk to members and optimize the rewards: growing a wide variety of crops, cover copping, crop rotation and irrigation. In the extremely unlikely event that severe weather, disease/insect damage, or other natural disaster results in a level of crop destruction that prevents the farm from continuing its weekly distributions, Farmer will notify member immediately via e-mail and will communicate via e-mail frequently with the Member to ensure that the Member is apprised of any potential disruption to their service. Member assumes the risk should Farmer be unable to provide a portion of the Members shares due to any inherent risk of farming.
